What is Mycoprotein

Mycoprotein is a high-quality fungal-based protein produced through the fermentation of naturally occurring filamentous fungi (most commonly Fusarium venenatum or related species). It has a complete amino acid profile, a low environmental footprint, and a meat-like texture, making it an ideal ingredient for the next generation of food products.

Why It Matters

The global food system is facing a threefold challenge: feeding 10 billion people by 2050, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from livestock production, and preserving biodiversity and water resources. Mycoprotein offers a scalable and environmentally friendly solution: approximately 90% less land use than beef, around 70% lower water consumption, up to 80% lower carbon footprint, and production in controlled bioreactors.
